Meet Jennet, one of the first farmers to trust CornHouse with her harvest.

During our onboarding process, Jennet told us she had 800kg of maize ready to sell. Like many smallholder farmers, she was under pressure to sell quickly at just 150 FCFA per kilo to middlemen who often take advantage of farmers’ urgency and lack of storage. That would have earned her only 120,000 FCFA.
Instead, Jennet handed her maize to CornHouse. We gave her an interest-free loan of 80,000 FCFA, providing her with financial breathing room while we took on the responsibility of finding a better market.
Within just a week, we successfully sold her maize on her behalf at 225 FCFA per kilo. The total revenue came to 180,000 FCFA, a 50% increase compared to what she would have earned from the middlemen. Even after deducting sales expenses, Jennet still walked away far better off than before.
For Jennet, this wasn’t just a higher return. It meant less stress, more time, and confidence that her hard work was valued. By letting CornHouse handle the sale, she could focus on her farm and family while we ensured she got a fair deal.
Jennet’s story is our very first success, but it reflects the bigger mission we stand for:
- Empowering farmers with access to fair and reliable markets
- Providing financial support when they need it most
- Reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring better livelihoods
Jennet is a living testimony to CornHouse’s mission and just the beginning of the impact we aim to create across farming communities.
